01 About the workshop
A bench, not a call centre.
One trade and one maker’s equipment: the same suite, the same service manuals and the same fasteners, every working day.
This valley is harder on this equipment than the manuals allow for. A condenser that would live a quiet life somewhere mild runs flat out from May to September; the water scales a spray arm shut inside two years; monsoon dust packs a burner venturi and takes control boards with it when the power drops. Most of what we are called to is not exotic — it is the climate arriving on schedule, on machines that were installed before anyone thought about it.
Working on it here since 2012, on the four machines listed below and nothing else.
02 How we work
Four rules, and they are the same on every job.
- One maker, four machines
- Viking ranges, wall ovens, built-in refrigeration and dishwashers. We turn down other brands, which sounds like bad business until you watch someone find a fault in ten minutes because they have met it forty times.
- Nothing opens before you have the number
- The reading comes first, then the band your fault sits in, out loud, and only then does a panel come off. If the diagnosis is inconclusive, you get told that instead of a plausible part.
- The old part stays on the counter
- Whatever came out is left with you, along with what it measured and what it should have measured. Nobody should have to take a failure on trust.
- Sometimes the answer is no
- A sealed system on a machine that has already had two is money you should keep. When repairing it is the wrong call, that is what you hear, and we do not sell you the repair anyway.
03 Standing and paperwork
What we are, plainly.
Licensed, bonded and insured. We provide our licence number to customers on request.
An independent workshop. Not affiliated with, authorized by, sponsored by or endorsed by Viking Range, LLC — if your machine is inside the manufacturer’s warranty, call them first, because that work should cost you nothing. Beyond that window, this is what we do all week.
04 Book the visit
Want to know what is wrong with it?
Model and serial number off the plate, what the machine is doing, and roughly when it started. That is usually enough to narrow it to two or three candidates over the phone.
